No. 20 Pye-Barker Fire & Safety Toyota GR Supra News and Notes

  • 20 TEAM WINS AGAIN: Christopher Bell earned the No. 20 team’s fourth win of the season last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Each of the team’s wins came with a different driver – John Hunter Nemechek (Las Vegas), Aric Almirola (Martinsville), Ryan Truex (Dover), and New Hampshire (Bell). Through 16 races this season, rookie crew chief Tyler Allen has led the No. 20 team to seven top-five finishes, 11 top-10s, one pole award, and 454 laps led. The No. 20 car ranks fifth in the owners’ points standings.
  • NEMECHEK AT NASHVILLE: John Hunter Nemechek started 21st and finished sixth in his only NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. He finished ninth in stage one and overcame a pit-road penalty to finish sixth in stage two. Nemechek was running third in the final segment before having to make an unscheduled pit stop that ultimately forced him to rally back to a sixth-place result. He also earned a pair of top-10 finishes in two NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at Nashville.
  • ALL AMERICAN 400: Nemechek has enjoyed success in Music City as a former winner of the All American 400 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in 2014. That night, the North Carolina native won the pole and led 294 of 300 laps on the way to victory lane in the annual super late model event.
  • SO FAR THIS YEAR: Nemechek has one win, two top-five finishes and four top-10s in seven Xfinity Series starts for Joe Gibbs Racing this season. The highlight of his Xfinity Series races was his dominant win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March where he led a race-high 99 laps to capture his 10th career victory. Nemechek finished 27th in his most recent Xfinity Series start at Iowa Speedway after leading late before a blown tire ended his race prematurely.
  • NEMECHEK’S XFINITY SERIES SCHEDULE: Nemechek is slated to compete in 10 Xfinity Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing this season. After Nashville, he is scheduled to be behind the wheel of the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra at the Chicago Street Course (July 6), and Michigan International Speedway (August 17).

What do you expect from the Xfinity Series race this weekend in Nashville?

“I expect it to be a fun race. Last year, it was a lot slicker than I think a lot of people expected. That kind of got us behind with qualifying, but I felt like we were really good in the race. I’m excited about it. It’s a great track and I feel like it’s a place we can definitely win.”
