No. 20 Safeway Toyota GR Supra News and Notes
- NEMECHEK AT SONOMA: John Hunter Nemechek started ninth and finished 16th in his lone NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Sonoma Raceway last season. His only other experience at the 1.99-mile road course was a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start in 2022 where he started seventh and finished eighth.
- EARLIER THIS YEAR: Nemechek piloted the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra in the first five Xfinity Series races this year. That five-race stint was highlighted by a dominant victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where he led a race-high 99 laps on the way to his 10th career victory. He also competed in the Xfinity Series race at Darlington Raceway last month driving for Sam Hunt Racing.
- NEMECHEK’S XFINITY SERIES SCHEDULE: Nemechek is slated to compete in 10 Xfinity Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing this season. Beyond Sonoma, he is scheduled to be behind the wheel of the No. 20 Toyota GR Supra at Iowa Speedway (June 15), Nashville Superspeedway (June 29), the Chicago Street Course (July 6), and Michigan International Speedway (August 17).
- 20 TEAM IN 2024: Through 13 races this season, the Tyler-Allen-led No. 20 team has posted three wins, six top-five finishes, and nine top-10s. The team currently ranks fifth in the owner points standings.

“I obviously don’t have a ton of laps at Sonoma, so any track time I can get is valuable. Plus, the JGR guys do such a great job and have really fast Toyota GR Supras. I know it’ll be really competitive and just up to me to get up to speed on the repave because that will be new for everyone to figure out. I have a lot of confidence in Tyler Allen and the 20 guys. Hopefully we can have a solid run and be there at the end.”
