TOYOTA USAC: Pursley Leads Toyota 1-2-3 In USAC At Belleville

Daison Pursley would take the lead on lap 26, then held off Ryan Timms and Kale Drake in the 40-lap USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series feature at the Belleville Short Track, Saturday night.

The win is the first for Pursley with CB Industries and his tenth overall with Toyota power. Saturday’s podium sweep marks the second consecutive night that Toyota drivers have captured the top-three finishing positions.

The night began with Keith Kunz Motorsports driver Ashton Torgerson taking the lead on lap one and he would go on to pace the first three laps of the event before teammate Timms would take over the top spot on lap four with Pursley moving past Torgerson for second one lap later.

Timms would lead the field for the next 21 laps before Pursley would slide Timms for the spot in turn 4 to take the lead on lap 26.

Pursley would then pull away from the field with the action heating up behind him. Drake would pass Timms for second on lap 29, with Cannon McIntosh, Friday night’s winner, climbing up to fourth.

Pursley would go on to take the checkered flag 2.387-seconds ahead of Timms, who passed Drake for second on the final lap as Drake placed third and McIntosh was fourth. Pursley currently holds down the USAC point lead.

Three more Toyota-powered drivers earned top-10 finishes on the night with Zach Daum placing fifth, Torgerson, making just his second USAC start, was seventh and Gary Taylor came home in tenth.

The USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series closes out the weekend at Sweet Springs (Mo.) Motorsports Complex on Sunday.

Toyota Quotes:

Daison Pursley, CB Industries: “I knew the top was going to be pretty good.  I tucked in behind Ryan and let the race come to us. I thought the car was just getting better and better as the race went on. It’s pretty cool to have a second and first on the weekend so far and get our first USAC win since 2021.”

Ryan Timms, Keith Kunz Motorsports: “It was a really good race. We had a lot of speed, but Daison was really fast. This KKM team does so much hard work. I’m glad we could bounce back after having some issues last night.”
