Bigger in Texas… Daniel Dye is continuing his charge in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) points standings this weekend at Circuit of the Americas (COTA). After his performance at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS), he has retained his 11th place position in the drivers’ point standings, a career-high through four races of his sophomore season. This weekend at the 3.41-mile road course in Austin, Tex., Dye will run his black and yellow No. 43 Napa Nightvision Chevrolet Silverado RST for the second time this year in the series’ lone road course event.
Keeps Getting Better … Dye continues to be impressive in qualifying this year. He has an average start of 6.8, the third best of all full-time NCTS drivers this season. Dye has shown substantial improvement from his 2023 season not only in qualifying, but in his recent finishes. In three of the four races this year, Dye has recorded his track-best results, including a top-10 run at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he finished ninth. With COTA on deck, he plans on recording another career-best finish by using his qualifying speed to position himself towards the front of the field.
Sight From Past … Dye has proven to be able to drive any conditions on a road course. In his first start with team owner Bill McAnally in the ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) in 2022, he showed brilliant speed at Portland International Speedway. This was Dye’s first race at a road course and was able to secure a pole position. Throughout the race weather played a huge factor, and with rain covering the track, he was able to bring home a fourth-place finish for Bill McAnally Racing (BMR). He’ll look to apply that previous road course experience for another track-best effort at COTA’s demanding 3.41-mile layout.
Tune In… FOX Sports 1’s (FS1) coverage from COTA kicks off on Friday afternoon with practice and pole qualifying at 3:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, FS1 starts race coverage with NASCAR Raceday at 12:30 p.m. ET, followed by the green flag at 1:30 p.m. ET. Daniel Dye Quote:
On his outlook for COTA:
“COTA is one of the most demanding tracks on the schedule and it’s a big test for us. Our NAPA Nightvision team has done a great job this year and we’ve been able to put together some solid runs. It’s still early in the year, so we want to put another solid day together and keep banking points for later in the year.”
