Jack Dover returns to the cockpit of a sprint car this Sunday at Huset’s Speedway.
Dover will do double duty at the high-banked oval in Brandon, S.D., where he will pilot a 410ci winged sprint car for Rick and Chris Bowers as well as a 305ci winged sprint car for Shawn Loos.
“I have different goals for the different cars,” Dover said. “In the 305, it’s up in the air because it’s the second night out in the car all year. We have another new motor we’ll try. We’re hoping everything runs smoothly and we ran finish the night out and learn a couple of things.”
Dover was leading a heat race at Huset’s Speedway in late May during the season debut in the car when mechanical woes ended the race and night early.
“In the No. 81, I’m expecting a top five,” he said. “We made gains the last time out. It seems like the first full year we did there we had a really good year. Last year wasn’t the greatest, but during the four-day World of Outlaws show at Huset’s this year we really hit on some stuff the last two days that made the car feel way better. We’ll start with that this weekend and hopefully come out of the box strong.
“It seems like any time I get in any car this year I feel comfortable and am eligible to win. I’ve always felt confident, but this year it’s different. I don’t know if it’s some of the things I’ve learned from being a crew chief for Tim (Estenson). I feel way more comfortable any time I hit the track this year.”
