Kaleb Johnson is facing sprint car shows in two different divisions this weekend.
The action begins on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series. He placed fourth during the lone 360ci winged sprint car show at the dirt oval this season.
“I feel we’ve been pretty solid with our 360 stuff at Jackson so we have a good baseline to go off there,” he said. “We’ve been pretty consistent there the last few years and that gives us confidence rolling in this Friday.”
Johnson posted a trio of top fives during three 360 sprint car races at the track last year as well as during the 2021 finale, giving him a five-race streak of top fives in the division at Jackson Motorplex.
This weekend will wrap up on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., where Johnson has two top fives in the 410ci winged sprint car division this season.
“At Huset’s we’ve struggled for the most part this year, but I felt we found something at the World of Outlaws show a couple of weeks ago,” he said. “I think we clicked on something to get the car more balanced and stable. Hopefully that will help in the next month or two as we finish out the season at Huset’s.”
Johnson enters Sunday ranked 15 th in the championship standings, but he is only 46 points out of the top 10.
