ARCA Menards Series at Elko Speedway: Menards 250 Post-race Notes

  • Current ARCA Menards Series championship points leader Jesse Love earned his fourth win in the last five races with a dominant victory in Saturday night’s Menards 250 at Elko Speedway. Love started from the front row and jumped to the lead on the initial start, leading the first 122 laps and 233 of the race’s 250 total laps. He traded the lead with last week’s winner William Sawalich five times before taking the lead the final time at lap 150.
  • Eden Prairie, Minnesota native William Sawalich finished second in front of his home crowd, with several hundred members of his family, friends, and guests of his sponsor Starkey SoundGear in attendance. Sawalich also scored his second General Tire Pole Award of the season.
  • For the second consecutive week, Sean Hingorani finished third. Hingorani has two ARCA Menards Series West victories in 2023 and sits second in the West championship standings just 12 points behind leader Landen Lewis.
  • Conner Jones made his first ARCA Menards Series start since round 2 at Phoenix Raceway and recorded a career-best fourth-place finish.
  • Andres Perez notched his fourth top-five finish of the season in fifth. The Mexico City native is third in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings, just seven points behind Frankie Muniz.
  • Muniz suffered his first DNF of the season and finished 15th after making contact with the frontstretch wall on lap 200. Muniz remains second in the standings but is now 40 points out of the lead.
  • Davey Callihan made his series debut driving a car fielded by Andy Hillenburg’s Fast Track High Performance Racing Team in partnership with Willie and Dinah Mullins. Callihan finished sixth, the final driver on the lead lap.
  • Despite not having any practice for the second consecutive week, Tony Cosentino scored his career-best series finish for the second straight week in seventh. Cosentino leaps to fourth in the series championship standings and now leads the laps completed category with 960 laps completed of a possible 969 laps.
  • Willie Mullins finished eighth in a car that carried a throwback scheme honoring his wife Dinah’s father, Dutch VanWyngeeren.
  • Toni Breidinger finished ninth after making a late-race unscheduled pit stop that dropped her two laps off the pace at the finish. Breidinger raced at Elko the day after finishing 17th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway.
  • Christian Rose had a tough night on his way to tenth; he was involved in a pair of spins after contact with other drivers that cost him a couple of laps and valuable track position. Rose’s crew chief Kevin Cywinski is a fan favorite at Elko, having been based in nearby Lakeville for many years earlier in his career.
  • The next race for the ARCA Menards Series is the Zinder Smart Coat 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Friday, July 7. The race will be televised live on FS1 and broadcast on select affiliates of the MRN Radio network nationwide starting at 6 pm ET.
