NASCAR Hall of Fame Past Inductees & Awards

The NASCAR Hall of Fame, located in Charlotte, N.C., is a 150,000-square-foot monument to the sport’s history and heritage. Imbued with entertainment and interactive elements, the Hall is an attraction built to educate and enthrall fans and visitors alike. It opened on May 11, 2009 and the inaugural class was inducted on May 23. The site also incorporates restaurant and retail space, a privately-developed 19-floor office tower, a NASCAR Media Group-operated broadcast studio and a 102,000-square-foot expansion to the Charlotte Convention Center.

The Hall’s approximate 40,000 square feet of exhibit space includes an outdoor Ceremonial Place for induction ceremonies; the 278-seat High Octane Theater features historical film; The Great Hall, which includes open meeting space, rotating displays and video scenes and graphics; Glory Road, a banked ramp leading to the facility’s second floor that features historic NASCAR race cars and highlights of the sport’s 40 current and historic tracks; Hall of Honor space where inductees are honored; NASCAR Vault, a glass-enclosed section housing artifacts; a full-sized transporter that reveals teams’ at-track bases; racing simulators; Heritage Speedway, an area of individual galleries that tell the story of NASCAR’s 60-plus years; the Honoring Our Legacy Theater, which functions as a memorial where visitors can reflect on the sport’s deceased heroes; and Race Week, a behind-the-scenes look at what a NASCAR team and the industry experiences to prepare a car for race day.
