With just two events left in the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, Brittany Force and her Monster Energy Top Fuel dragster team, currently sitting No. 2 in points, are prepared to keep up the fight for a second championship crown starting with this weekend’s Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The Monster Energy / Flav-R-Pac team has a total of 10 No. 1s with one win at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kan., where Brittany went onto share a historic winners circle with legendary father John Force. It was the first time in NHRA history that a parent-child duo had won together in the pro categories. Force still can tie the Top Fuel and team records for No. 1 qualifying performances in a season (13) if she is No. 1 in the last two events. Not an unbelievable task for the team that has set track records with both their stellar elapsed times and speeds, staying consistent through qualifying. The David Grubnic and Mac Savage led team has been to the finals five times in the 2021 Camping World Drag Racing Series season, most recently finishing runner-up at the Carolina Nationals.
“Our Monster Energy / Flav-R-Pac team is anxious to get to Las Vegas. It’s the second to last race of season and we’re two in points. We’re looking to win this thing and set ourselves up in the best position possible to win the championship at the Auto Club Finals,” Force said. “We had success at The Strip in 2019 when we won the event so it’s a very comfortable track for my entire team. It’s going to be a challenge but we’re ready for it.
On Halloween weekend, how could you not think that the fates favor the Monster car? In addition to the team’s win in 2019, Force is also the track record holder at 3.652 seconds, 338.17 mph, marks she set en route to her victory. Force also had a runner-up finish at the 2017 race that enabled her to cut Steve Torrence’s lead from 57 points to 20 points, a margin she erased at Pomona to win her first championship and the first Top Fuel championship for John Force Racing. But The Strip is important to Force for more than just her records and wins.
“The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a special track for me,” Force continued. “My first full pass in a Top Fuel dragster was there back in 2012. It took seven years to end up in that Vegas winners circle which I think shows you how competitive this sport is.”
