No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry News and Notes

  • TRUEX AT RICHMOND: Martin Truex Jr. is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series winner at Richmond Raceway after sweeping the track’s races in 2019. In 30 career starts at the track, Truex has posted seven top-five finishes, 13 top-10s and 1,125 laps led. He has earned five consecutive top-five finishes at the track dating back to September 2018 and led at least 100 laps in seven of the past nine Richmond races. Earlier this season, Truex led 107 laps and finished fifth after rallying back from a late-race pit road speeding penalty.
  • DARLINGTON RECAP: Truex started the 2021 Playoffs with a solid fourth-place finish at Darlington Raceway. The night wasn’t quite that simple for the No. 19 team as Truex dropped off the lead lap at one point after making an unscheduled pit stop for a loose wheel. After a fortuitous caution put him back in contention late in the race, Truex was penalized for speeding on pit road. Despite multiple setbacks, he charged from 11th to fourth in the final 36 laps of the race to earn his ninth top-five finish of the season.
  • BASS PRO SHOPS: A longtime supporter of Truex and NASCAR, Bass Pro Shops will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 19 Camry for Saturday night’s race at Richmond Raceway. Bass Pro Shops is North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company. Founded in 1972 when avid young angler Johnny Morris began selling tackle out of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri. Today the company provides customers with unmatched offerings spanning premier destination retail, outdoor equipment manufacturing, world-class resort destinations and more.
  • RED, WHITE, AND BLUE: Truex’s No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Camry will feature a red, white, and blue design for this weekend’s race to recognize the 20th anniversary of September 11th and to honor the United States military, first responders, and Bass Pro Shops’ relationship with the United Service Organizations (USO).
  • JGR AT RICHMOND: Joe Gibbs Racing owns 16 NASCAR Cup Series victories at Richmond Raceway. In 147 combined starts at the track, the organization has tallied 50 top-five finishes, 81 top-10s and 5,422 laps led. Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart join Truex on the list of drivers who have driven JGR entries to victory lane at Richmond.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway begins Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Talk about your mindset going into Richmond…

“We have a lot of confidence going to Richmond. It’s a place we feel like we can go run up front and have a shot to win. Right now, that’s the biggest thing – trying to win races and win stages and advance yourself in the Playoffs. This is a great opportunity for us at a track we have ran well at the last handful of years, so yeah, we’re going to try to go there and do all that we can to run up front and be there at the end of the night.”
