It will be double duty for Daniel Suárez this weekend.
Before traveling to Watkins Glen International for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race, Suarez will spend a few days in Tennessee.
That’s where he will drive the No. 75 Wesley Financial Group Chevrolet Camaro for Silver Hare Racing on the new Nashville street circuit in Saturday’s Trans Am TA2 Series race as part of the inaugural Music City Grand Prix weekend.
He will be up against one interesting competitor in the Nashville race. Trackhouse founder Justin Marks will drive the Team SLR No. 99 BC Forever (Bryan Clauson) Tribute Chevrolet Camaro in the race.Marks is an accomplished road racer winning many sports car races. He won the Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Aug. 13, 2016 driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. |

Suárez looks forward to racing the owner of his Cup Series team.”It’s going to be a lot of fun on that new track. I am excited for it. Racing is cool and racing something new is really cool,” said Suárez. “I have wanted to run Trans Am with Justin for a long time and we finally get to do it this weekend in Nashville. Justin is really good as are a lot of the drivers in this race.”Marks’ No. 99 Trans Am Chevrolet Camaro |
Marks has long wanted race with Suárez in the Trans Am Series. But there is a more practical reason as well.”Every advantage we can give Daniel in this era of no (Cup) practice, no qualifying races is worth it,” said Marks.”By getting him a ride in the Music City GP, he’ll be able to take the flag at Watkins Glen coming right out of two days of competitive road racing in a similar vehicle. And it’ll be fun for us to race together finally.” |
