Ty Gibbs, Driver of the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra
“We had a great weekend at Charlotte, so hopefully we can keep the momentum going as we head to Mid-Ohio. It’s another track I haven’t been to before in a NASCAR-style car, but I’ve been there in Trans Am equipment. We’ll run the ARCA race on Friday night and then drive the Xfinity race on Saturday. I think both our Toyota Camry (ARCA) and our Toyota Supra (Xfinity) should be good. The track is challenging and I’m excited to head to Mid-Ohio.”
Chris Gayle, Crew Chief of the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Supra
“It’s going to be really hard to top last weekend in Charlotte, but Ty has another shot to at least equal what he was able to accomplish last weekend since he’s pulling double duty again in Mid-Ohio. It’s also the third road course event for the NXS series this weekend, which overall have been pretty productive for the 54 team this season. Ty will also have the advantage of retaining his starting position since he’ll be in the NXS car on back to back weekends for the race only event in Mid-Ohio. This event is unique in that it’s the only non-Cup companion event of the season. So we’ll have a different pit stop timing structure since the majority of cup pit crews will be in Sonoma. Overall the event should be another very competitive weekend for the 54 team.”
