He has won at least one road course race in three of the past four seasons and has led laps in 10 of the past 12 road races dating back to 2016.

  • DOVER RECAP: Truex finished 19th in last weekend’s race at Dover International Speedway. After starting from the pole, the handling of the No. 19 Camry coupled with nose damage suffered early in the race provided a challenging afternoon for Truex and his team.
  • BASS PRO SHOPS: A longtime supporter of Truex and NASCAR, Bass Pro Shops will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 19 Camry for Sunday’s race at Circuit of The Americas. Bass Pro Shops is North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company. Founded in 1972 when avid young angler Johnny Morris began selling tackle out of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri. Today the company provides customers with unmatched offerings spanning premier destination retail, outdoor equipment manufacturing, world-class resort destinations and more.
  • JGR ON ROAD COURSES: Joe Gibbs Racing owns 13 NASCAR Cup Series wins on road courses, including Christopher Bell’s victory at the Daytona Road Course earlier this season. In 158 combined road course races, the organization has racked up 47 top-five finishes, 77 top-10s and 925 laps led. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Tony Stewart join Bell and Truex on the list of drivers who have driven JGR entries to victory lane.

Talk about going to COTA for the first time this weekend…

“COTA is definitely quite a bit different from the road courses we have raced on over the years. I feel like it has some characteristics of Sonoma and some from Watkins Glen. We were fortunate to be a part of the tire test back in March, but I’m sure most everyone has spent some time in the simulator and on iRacing just to get familiar with the layout. You’ve got some blind corners and elevation changes. It’s all about finding your marks and when you turn in and what gear you’re in and how much speed you’re carrying and finding the braking points and all those things, so that practice session is going to be pretty interesting. It’s only 50 minutes and it takes two minutes to get around here, so that’ll be a challenge. I’m looking forward to it, I think most guys are excited about the opportunity to come to a new market and a world-class facility for the first time.”
