- TRUEX AT MARTINSVILLE: Martin Truex Jr. has earned two NASCAR Cup Series victories at Martinsville Speedway – both coming in the past three trips to the .526-mile oval. In 30 combined starts at the track, Truex has posted seven top-five finishes, 13 top-10s and 987 laps led. Dating back to November 2017, he has racked up five top-five finishes in the past seven Martinsville races. In November 2019, Truex led a Martinsville-record 464 laps to claim his first victory at the track. Last June, he led the final 130 laps on the way to the victory. In the track’s most recent race last November, Truex led 129 laps and was leading with less than 50 laps to go before a loose wheel forced him to make an unscheduled pit stop and dropped him to a 22nd-place finish.
- BRISTOL RECAP: In the Cup Series’ most recent outing, the No. 19 team led a race-high 126 laps and won the opening stage of the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway. After lining up third for an overtime restart, a flat right-front tire relegated Truex to a 19th-place finish.
- ELITE COMPANY: Truex became the 19th driver in Cup Series history to lead 10,000 laps after leading 126 laps in the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Mayetta, New Jersey native ranks third so far this season with 233 laps led.
- BASS PRO SHOPS: A longtime supporter of Truex and NASCAR, Bass Pro Shops will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 19 Camry for Saturday night’s race at Martinsville Speedway. Bass Pro Shops is North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company. Talk about your mindset going to Martinsville…
“Martinsville has become one of our better tracks. I just feel like working with the same group for so long, we’ve hit on something the past few years and been able to keep finetuning that and put ourselves in position to run up front. We have a lot of confidence going into this weekend that we can put ourselves in contention again if we can avoid mistakes and stay out of trouble, so we’re really looking forward to the opportunity that this weekend brings.”
