Hendriks Motorsport’s Tobias Dauenhauer won a dramatic second round of the EuroNASCAR Esports Series at virtual Brands Hatch Indy Circuit last Tuesday. At the end of an eventful Main Event race, the German was first under the checkered flag with a 3.872 second advantage on Daytona winner Guillaume Deflandre in the #64 SpeedHouse Chevrolet. It was Dauenhauer’s second ENES career win after his first place at Zolder in the 2020 season finale.

Dauenhauer qualified first with a blistering fast 46.088-lap and thus secured the Pole Position for the first heat of the day. He led all laps and won the 10-minute heat flag-to-flag ahead of DF1 Racing’s Simon Pilate. Ulysse Delsaux followed in third ahead of Paul Jouffreau and Leonardo Colavita, who closed the top-5. The second heat was won by Deflandre, who also collected all 13 lead laps in the race. He beat Justin Kunz, who was 12.894 seconds shy of the fast Belgian. A surprising Stefano Guastaveglie was third ahead of Alain Mosqueron and Santtu Vuoksenturja.
After the two heats determined the starting order of the 30-minute Main Event race, 33 drivers were battling for important points in the official virtual EuroNASCAR championship that will bring real-life points valid for the Teams Championship. The two clear favorites, Dauenhauer and Deflandre had a thrilling battle up front for several laps. A contact involving a lapped car threw both down the order and while Academy Motorsport – Alex Caffi Motorsport’s Vladimiros Tziortzis inherited the lead and defended it for 11 laps.
Despite evident damages to their cars, Dauenhauer and Deflandre made a great comeback to reconquer the top two spots by taking advantage of a small mistake by Tziortzis. Dauenhauer crossed the finish line first after 38 laps, while Deflandre ended up second 3.872 seconds shy of the 2020 EuroNASCAR 2 runner-up. CAAL Racing’s Guastaveglie was third and grabbed his first ever ENES podium finish. The Italian was also the fastest team member among the participants at Brands Hatch. Colavita and Giorgio Maggi from Switzerland completed the top-5.
After surrendering the lead, Tziortzis was sixth ahead of NASCAR Whelen Euro Series veteran Frederic Gabillon. Delsaux was eighth ahead of Pilate and Henri Tuomaala, who rounded out the top-10 of an action-packed race. Autodrom Most representative Jakub Krafek was 16th under the checkered flag, while Michael Niemas finished 19th in the colors of the American Fan Fest at the Hockenheimring.
Deflandre now leads the championship with 75 points in his pockets, followed by Dauenhauer, who is only 2 markers behind the Belgian. Delsaux ist third head of Tziortzis and Pilate, who are tied for fourth with 59 points each. Gabillon lies in sixth, Tuomaala in seventh and Guastaveglie in eighth. Patrick Hendriks and Jouffreau close the top-10.
The third round of the 2021 ENES season will take place on March 9. The races at Watkins Glen will be broadcasted live from 8:30 pm CET on EuroNASCAR’s YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitch profile, as well as on Motorsport.tv.
