No. 18 Poppy Bank Toyota Supra News and Notes

  • HEMRIC AT HOMESTEAD: Daniel Hemric has posted one top-five finish in three NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway after finishing fourth in 2018. In 2017, Hemric qualified fourth at Homestead and was running competitively before a mechanical issue derailed his efforts. Last season, he was solidly inside the top 10 before being collected in a multi-car accident on a late-race restart.
  • DAYTONA ROAD COURSE RECAP: After starting from the rear of the field last Saturday at the Daytona Road Course, Hemric methodically worked his way forward and found himself in the top five late in stage two. From there, he continued to battle inside the top five for the remainder of the event before ultimately finishing third.
  • 1.5-MILE TRACKS: In 29 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts on 1.5-mile tracks, Hemric has tallied 10 top-five finishes and 19 top-10s. He finished third at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in September and second at Kansas Speedway in October in his most recent 1.5-mile appearances at the end of the 2020 season.
  • POPPY BANK: Poppy Bank will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 18 Supra in Saturday’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Poppy Bank is a 5-star rated organization and is recognized as one of the strongest financial institutions in the country. Since opening its first branch in 2005, Poppy Bank has grown to over $3 Billion in assets with branches across the San Francisco Bay Area, Roseville, and Southern California.
  • JGR AT HOMESTEAD: The Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity Series program has five victories at Homestead-Miami Speedway, including Harrison Burton’s win in the first of two races at the track last June. In 55 combined starts at the 1.5-mile oval, the organization has racked up 17 top-five finishes, 35 top-10s and 728 laps led. Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth and Daniel Suárez join Burton on the list of drivers who have driven JGR entries to victory lane at Homestead.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Talk about going to Homestead this weekend…

“I look for Homestead to be one of my first real doses of the JGR culture with it being my first time driving the cars on a track like this. We’re going into the weekend with open minds knowing that we’re trying to continue building our chemistry within the 18 team and also trying to help our program overall to keep getting better at these types of tracks because they are very important with how the schedule is laid out. It’s definitely going to be a test for us, but we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
