Langdon Looks To Make It Three In A Row For Kalitta At Gatornationals…Fresh off a win at the U.S. Nationals, Shawn Langdon will be looking to extend the Gatornationals win streak to three in a row for the Connie Kalitta-tuned DHL/Kalitta Air Toyota dragster. The team won in both 2018 and 2019 with Richie Crampton behind the wheel. Overall, Kalitta Motorsports Toyota dragsters have won the last seven races in the NHRA’s four major events – the Winternationals, the Gatornationals, the U.S. Nationals and the NHRA Finals. Langdon climbed up to sixth in points with his second U.S. Nationals win – his first since returning to dragsters after two years in Funny Car.
Todd Continuing Climb…J.R. Todd fell just short of winning his third U.S. Nationals in four years with a runner-up finish in Indianapolis, but he did continue his climb up the Funny Car point standings. With the second consecutive final round appearance for the DHL Toyota Camry, Todd moved up to fourth overall. Since the NHRA returned to the track in July, Todd has compiled a 9-4 win-loss record.
Kalitta Continues To Lead in Top Fuel…Doug Kalitta, the current Top Fuel point leader, has excelled in the most prestigious races on the circuit and will be shooting for his fourth win in the last five NHRA ‘Big 4’ races after winning the 2019 U.S. Nationals, the 2019 NHRA Finals and the 2020 Winternationals. The Mac Tools Toyota driver has topped the point standings since winning the season-opening event in Pomona.
Shawn Langdon, DHL/Kalitta Air Top Fuel dragster: “The Gatornationals is another ‘major’ for our sport. That track has a lot of history and to be able to go back-to-back with a U.S. Nationals win and then a Gatornationals win would be something no one has ever done before.”
