  • TRUEX AT DAYTONA: Martin Truex Jr. has two top-five finishes and four top-10s in NASCAR Cup Series competition at Daytona International Speedway. The former series champion has finished second twice at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, including the summer race in 2018. In this year’s DAYTONA 500, Truex finished fourth in stage two and was solidly inside the top 15 late in the race before being collected in a multi-car accident that left him with a 32nd-place result. He has visited victory lane at the World Center of Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race in July 2005.
  • TOP-THREE STREAK: Truex’s seven consecutive top-three finishes mark the longest such streak in the Cup Series since Jeff Gordon earned eight straight top-threes in 1998. Darrell Waltrip holds the modern era record for most consecutive top-three finishes with 13 during his 1981 championship season.
  • DOVER RECAP: Truex earned a pair of runner-up finishes in last weekend’s doubleheader at Dover International Speedway. In the first race, he started third, ran solidly inside the top five throughout the day and led 88 laps before ultimately finishing second. On Sunday, he battled a loose handling condition for most of the afternoon, but steadily improved his track position to end the day with another second-place finish.
  • STATISTICAL RANKINGS: While sitting fourth in the NASCAR Cup Series standings, Truex currently ranks in the top five in multiple statistical categories, including top-five finishes (fourth), top-10s (third-tied), average finish (fourth), stage points (fourth), green flag speed (first), fastest laps run (second), fastest drivers early in a run (third), fastest drivers late in a run (third), percentage of laps run on the lead lap (fourth), driver rating (fifth), and laps in the top 15 (fifth).
  • BASS PRO SHOPS: A longtime supporter of Truex and NASCAR, Bass Pro Shops will be featured as the primary sponsor of the No. 19 Camry for Saturday night’s race in Daytona. Bass Pro Shops is North America’s premier outdoor and conservation company. Founded in 1972 when avid young angler Johnny Morris began selling tackle out of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri. Today the company provides customers with unmatched offerings spanning premier destination retail, outdoor equipment manufacturing, world-class resort destinations and more.
  • JGR AT DAYTONA: Joe Gibbs Racing owns eight NASCAR Cup Series victories at Daytona International Speedway, including three of the past four races at the historic track. Earlier this season, Denny Hamlin claimed the team’s fourth DAYTONA 500 win. Overall, the organization has tallied 33 top-five finishes, 45 top-10s and 1,767 laps led at the World Center of Racing. Kyle Busch, Dale Jarrett, Erik Jones, and Tony Stewart join Hamlin on the list of drivers who have driven JGR entries to victory lane in Daytona.
  • TUNE IN: Coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway begins Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

Talk about your outlook going into Daytona knowing you’re already locked into the playoffs…

“Daytona is a place where you just go race and see what happens. It’s so unpredictable that you can’t really take anything out of it, and it has absolutely zero bearing on the playoffs. For us, it would be nice to actually finish one of the plate races for a change, so we’ll go down there, try to stay up front and see what we end up with.”
