Together, we give #GivingTuesdayNow

The NASCAR Foundation

The NASCAR community is coming together for #GivingTuesdayNow to continue the efforts of helping families impacted by COVID-19.

As the charitable arm of NASCAR, The NASCAR Foundation has served as the central point of rallying support in response to this public health emergency for the NASCAR industry. In doing so, the Foundation has been working with local and national charities to help provide support for families that have been impacted by the pandemic. All donations received thus far have been distributed to areas where we live, work and race.

In conjunction with the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Series Invitational race at virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway, The NASCAR Foundation partnered with Feed the Children, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood hunger, to help families in the Homestead-Miami Speedway area. Because of generous supporters, including NASCAR drivers Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick, NASCAR on Fox, iRacing, Dixie Vodka, NASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series and many more, the Foundation provided two truckloads of food and supplies to more than 800 families in the Homestead area.

In addition, The NASCAR Foundation has worked with the American Red Ross to help individuals impacted by COVID-19 in three racing communities, including Texas Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. In Texas, more than 30 North Texas residents showed their pride and concern for those in need at Texas Motor Speedway by making critically vital blood donations to the American Red Cross to guarantee a stable supply throughout the ongoing pandemic. The drive collected 32 pints of blood, which can help up to 96 patients in need. Talladega Superspeedway also hosted a blood drive, collecting 56 usable units of blood to keep area blood banks stocked and ready to support those who need it in the Talladega area.

Following the Easter break, the Foundation teamed up with Richmond Raceway to support Blessings in a Backpack, an organization that works to provide meals for children on the weekends that might otherwise go hungry. During this public health emergency, schools are closed, and children do not have access to food. Blessings in a Backpack has mobilized in the community to ensure children and their families are fed. From this partnership, Blessings in a Backpack is able to provide 1,500 meals to kids in Central Virginia during this pandemic.

Most recently, The NASCAR Foundation worked with Bayhealth Foundation and Dover International Speedway to support the ongoing efforts of Bayhealth Hospital medical staff involved in COVID-19 mobile testing at the Speedway. To date, more than 2,500 tests have been issued on site at Dover International Speedway. Funding from the Foundation will support front line medical workers involved in this testing for the foreseeable future.

Beyond these initiatives at the tracks, The NASCAR Foundation discovered a need to also provide a little fun and normalcy back into the lives of children. With the help of donors, the Foundation packaged and delivered over 500 Speediatrics Fit Kits to kids across the country. These Fit Kits, which include an activity book, jump rope, crayons, pedometer and drawstring bag, give children the opportunity to stay active and healthy while at home.

As one can see, a lot of work has been done to help families nationwide during this difficult time. However, there is still a lot more that needs to be done. #GivingTuesdayNow is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity – to use their individual power of kindness to remain connected and heal. With your generosity, we are able to continue our efforts of helping families impacted by COVID-19, while also continuing our mission of helping children in need across the country.
