J.R. Todd and Kalitta Motorsports Partner with Covered California

Kalitta Motorsports and J.R. Todd, driver of the DHL Toyota Funny Car,  are partnering with Covered California, during the NHRA season finale at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, November 15-17 to help spread the word to California racing fans that open enrollment is underway for 2020. Covered California is the state’s health insurance marketplace, and the only place where Californians can get financial help to purchase high-quality coverage from top insurance companies. The Covered California logo will appear on the rear wing of Todd’s 11,000-horsepower Toyota Camry Funny Car throughout the NHRA Finals.

“Kalitta Motorsports is proud to partner with Covered California to spread the word about the importance of enrolling in high-quality, affordable health insurance,” said Todd, the 2018 NHRA Funny Car world champion. “As a race car driver, I know firsthand how important it is to have health insurance. Whether you have a 9-5 job, or you race cars at hundreds of miles per hour, you must have someone in your corner like Covered California.”

Covered California partnered with Team Kalitta and NHRA Funny Car champion Todd to raise awareness about Open Enrollment and the new state subsidies that are available for the first time. This year, nearly a million Californians will qualify for financial assistance including many middle-income individuals and families like small-business owners and the self-employed.  Californians can find more information and enroll in Covered California at www.CoveredCA.com.

“Covered California is in your corner, providing affordable, quality health coverage,” said Peter V. Lee, executive director of Covered California. “We want consumers to check out CoveredCA.com to see what they’re eligible for, even if they’ve checked in previous years, because there is new money available this year. We have new state subsidies for individuals who earn up to $75,000 and families of four who earn up to $154,000. Consumers can compare health insurance plans and choose the plan that works best for their health needs and budget.”

Throughout the NHRA Finals race weekend, fans will be able to learn from Todd and Lee about the importance of having health insurance as part of living a healthy lifestyle. A special media event will take place at the racetrack on Thursday, November 14 where Lee will warm up Todd’s Toyota Camry Funny Car. Social and digital content will be created and shared through multiple channels throughout the race weekend. All media welcome.
