· IN THE SPOTLIGHT: This will be the second year the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) will be racing on the 2.-28-mile road course within the oval, called the ROVAL. You can throw away all the statistics from all the previous races, to include last year at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). This year there have been changes to the length of the race and the configuration to the backstretch chicane in hopes it will create additional passing opportunities and more side-by-side racing on the 17 turn road course. This race will be the second race in the playoffs for the NXS in the Round of 12. This Saturday’s 67-lap free-for-all will definitely be the wild card that can control the contenders’ aspirations to continue in the playoffs.

From the Cockpit:
Brandon Jones: “After nearly clenching a top-10 run at Richmond, our Juniper team still has a lot of momentum carrying us into the Roval. This is definitely the wild card race of the season. However, I do have a lot more confidence going into the race this year than I did last year getting ready to compete on the course for the very first time. I’ve actually leaned on my JGR teammate Martin Truex, Jr for some tips since he was so competitive in the Cup race there last year. I expect that the changes to the backstretch chicane will slow the cars down quite a bit, which I think I’ll be able to make play in my favor. It’s no secret that I’ve worked really hard to hone my driving skills on the road courses this season, and I think all of those extra activities and training will help me tremendously this weekend. I’m ready to jump into this weekend with our Juniper Supra and to keep fighting for a shot at the championship.”
