ARCA Menards Series points leader Michael Self (No. 25 Sinclair Oil Toyota) will put his skills to the test this weekend when the series makes its annual trip to the Illinois State Fairground at Springfield for the running of the Allen Crowe 100 Sunday, August 18.

Self, 28, enters the series 16th round of the season with three wins and an 80-point advantage over teammate Christian Eckes for the top spot in the standings. Sunday’s race on Springfield’s historic dirt mile track will represent Self’s first career dirt race out of 34 career starts.

Known for his prowess on the pavement Self welcomes the new opportunity.

“This is definitely going to be new experience for me,” Self says. “I’ve got very limited dirt experience so I’ve been asking a ton of questions and really trying to learn so I have an idea of what to expect this weekend. To be honest, I’m a bit nervous but also pretty excited. I’ve really enjoyed the dirt experiences that I have had, and just thought they were a ton of fun, so I’m anxious to see if this is comparable at all.”

With five races remaining on the season Self faces consecutive dirt track events (DuQuoin State Fairgrounds 8/31) before returning to familiar ground at Salem Speedway on September 14. Through 15 starts the Utah native has risen to the top of the standings on the strength of three wins (Pensacola, Salem and Michigan), four poles, 11 top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.

Self will join Venturini Motorsport teammates Christian Eckes and Logan Seavey in Springfield. Both Eckes and Seavey swept ARCA’s two dirt races in 2018.

The ARCA Menards Series returns to action with the first of two dirt track races with the Allen Crowe 100 presented by Lucas Oil on Sunday August 18 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Practice on the one-mile dirt oval will begin at 10 am ET/9 am CT, General Tire Pole Qualifying is set for 12 n ET/11 am CT, and the 100-mile feature event will go green at 2:30 pm ET/1:30 pm CT. The race will be televised live flag-to-flag on MAVTV.
