Chicagoland Speedway Announces Full Line-Up of Activities for Campers

Chicagoland Speedway

Chicagoland Speedway announced a full line-up of activities for campers today that begin on Wednesday, June 26 and run throughout the Ultimate Summer NASCAR Festival Weekend. Campers should get ready as Chicagoland Speedway kicks off summer with an action-packed weekend of fun that awaits every camper’s needs. Friends and family are welcome to join us for an epic camping experience at the Magnificent Mile and a Half that culminates Sunday, June 30 with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Camping World 400.

To start the weekend off, campers will have the opportunity to catch a quick bus ride to downtown Joliet on Wednesday evening to check out Joliet’s own Race Fan Rally. Race Fan Rally is a free, annual, single-day NASCAR fan fest held on the Wednesday before the Monster Energy Cup weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. Race Fan Rally is held in Downtown Joliet, in the event space across from the Rialto Square Theatre. Race Fan Rally features live entertainment, display vehicles and driver appearances. Geoff Bodine is the special guest of this year’s rally. The event starts at 5 p.m. and run until 10.

While in the historic area of downtown Joliet, select campers will have the ability to tour the infamous Joliet Correctional Center which was a functioning Illinois State Penitentiary from 1858 to 2002. The prison was featured in the major motion picture “The Blues Brothers” in 1980 and was the location for several other television series and movies. After sitting dormant for 16 years, the prison was rehabilitated and opened for tours in 2018. The first 100 campers to pick up passes at Chicagoland Speedway on Wednesday will receive a free tour.

Racing starts on Thursday with the ARCA Menards Series Bounty 150 at 7:00 p.m. Thursday also starts a parade of live bands and entertainment that span the week in Lower Ridge as the Infield. The top stars in barbeque move in and start cooking on Friday before the green flag waves over the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Camping World 225. Stop by Lower Ridge and watch as celebrity chefs prepare chicken, ribs, pork and brisket for the BBQ SmokeDown, a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned competition. Also on Friday at noon, campers can watch as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series haulers parade into the infield.

The barbequing continues on Saturday, but this time, the fans can throw their names in for the Burger Battle. The fan with the best burger will be crowned on Saturday evening at the campground stage.

Campers need also remember to pack their coolers with Miller Lite and Coca-Cola products as Chicagoland Speedway staff members will patrol through the campgrounds and if they spot a camper with Miller Lite or Coke at their site/in their cooler, the fan could win great prizes.

Looking for a more family friendly option? Chicagoland Speedway also offers family camping! This section of the Geico Park Lakeside Campground adheres to quiet hours and features youth-centric games and activities while the track is still just a shuttle bus ride away.

Considering upgrading or just eager to see what other types/models of RVs are out there? Look no further as Chicagoland Speedway’s Champions Park will host an RV Show presented by Camping World. Fans can also stop by any of the exciting sponsor displays in this area for interactive games and giveaways for the whole family. Plus, driver appearances and autograph sessions pop up at various sponsor displays throughout the weekend.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Chicagoland Speedway will take place in June as part of the four-race weekend June 27 – June 30. The weekend will kick off on Thursday, June 27 with the ARCA Menards Series Bounty 150 followed by NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Camping World 225 under the lights on Friday night. On Saturday, the NASCAR Xfinity Series Camping World 300 will hit the track as the precursor to Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Camping World 400 showdown.
