Bret Holmes and the No. 23 Holmes ll Excavation / Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet team finished third at Michigan International Speedway, earning their second consecutive top-five finish. Holmes and company started the 100-lap event from the seventh position. In the early stages of the race, Holmes reported to the No. 23 team of a tight-handling condition. Crew chief Shane Huffman called Holmes to pit road during the first caution of the night for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. Holmes returned to racing action and battled his way into the top five of the running order. The 22-year-old driver informed his crew the adjustments were positive as he set his sights on the fourth-place car. With less than 10 laps remaining, Holmes maneuvered his red Chevrolet into the third position, capturing his third top-five finish of the season.

                                                   BRET HOLMES QUOTE:
“I wish we could have done a little better at Michigan (International Speedway) but overall, I’m really happy with the result. This is the best finish we’ve had since 2016. That’s a victory in itself. I know we’re capable of running in the top three every week. We’re consistent and getting better every race. My confidence has grown a lot over the course of the season so far. Our team is working hard and always trying to improve our performance. We’ve put together a good stretch of races, and I hope that we can keep that going through the rest of the season. We struggled being tight in the race but despite that, had a strong enough car to bring it home third. Our strategy played out well. Shane (Huffman, crew chief) and the guys did a great job. I’m proud of them for this weekend and where we are headed. We just have to keep it up, and we’ll be just fine.”
