Rookie of the Year candidate, Austin Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist Top Fuel dragster team are heading to the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, the sixth event on the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season schedule, confident after a weekend of solid performance.

From starting the season with first round wins at the season opening Winternationals and Arizona Nationals to making consistent passes at the legendary Gatornationals and fan-favorite Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals, Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist team are making all the right moves to have a winning hot rod. At the recent SpringNationals in Houston, Prock laid down a series of qualifying passes in the .70s and headed into race day in the No. 7 position where he added his third first round victory to his resume, defeating fellow rookie Jordan Vandergriff. Although they ended the weekend in the second round to reigning Top Fuel world champion Steve Torrence, Prock and his team are confident they’re headed in the right direction.

“I’m excited for the Charlotte Four-Wide. We made great passes in Houston and my reaction times were killer on Sunday, we came out with .048 and .045 reaction times which will be lethal if I can keep it up. I struggled in Las Vegas but woke up Sunday and knew what I was doing wrong in the cockpit,” said Prock. “I think we’re on our way to keeping the consistency and making more solid runs. I’m looking forward to keeping it up in Charlotte.”

Heading into the second four-wide of the 2019 NHRA season, Prock is looking to add some history to the John Force Racing books as the first rookie to win at zMAX Dragway in the nitro categories. Although he has yet to make a pass down the Bellagio of dragstrips, his fellow JFR teammates have been successful at the facility with a total of eight wins at both the spring and fall events.

“Our Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Top Fuel dragster is hot right now. We turned things around at the last race in Houston and this next race is going to be a big one. It’ll be the first time I get to race in front of my brother, Thomas, and my whole family will be there,” said Prock. “I want to win this deal. I’ve got one four-wide event under my belt and feel confident I’ll do my job on the starting line and I know my team will back me with one bad hot rod.”
