With the 61st annual Daytona 500 six days away, Rick Ware Racing (RWR) announced today the addition of Winn-Dixie as the primary sponsor of the team’s second chartered Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) entry driven by Cody Ware.
Founded in 1925, Winn-Dixie grocery stores, liquor stores and in-store pharmacies serve communities throughout five southeastern states – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. is a subsidiary of Southeastern Grocers, which is one of the largest supermarket chains based in the Southeast.
Industry veteran George Church will guide Ware in his inaugural Daytona 500.
“This is li
ke a dream come true,” said Cody Ware. “I really can’t explain the feelings I have about getting ready to run my first Daytona 500. “It’s like being a little kid at Christmas and it can’t get here soon enough. We still have a lot to learn even after practice and qualifying this past weekend.
“It’s also a bonus to be able to go out there and represent one of the biggest grocery chains in the country. I couldn’t believe it when Winn-Dixie agreed to be our primary partner for Daytona. This is a huge boost for Rick Ware Racing, and we plan on representing them to the best of our abilities.”
Rick Ware Racing team principal Rick Ware says he’s proud to have two cars in this year’s “Great American Race” – especially with marketing partners who are acquainted with the sport.
“We are very excited to be here at Daytona and equally excited to have Winn-Dixie on our No. 52 Chevrolet,” said Ware. “We have worked very hard during the off season to be able to bring our two teams to Daytona and continue with the enhancement of our program from 2018.
“We are very fortunate to have had some really great companies join our family during the off-season and even at the beginning of the season. To be able to see our No. 52 Chevrolet whip around Daytona with Winn-Dixie on board is very exciting. They are a familiar name in NASCAR and we’re thankful for their support.
“Being brand ambassadors for Winn-Dixie, JACOB Companies and the many other associate marketing partners is something that we all at Rick Ware Racing are very proud of.”
The 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 is set for Sunday, Feb. 17 with coverage on FOX, the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90. Event coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. (ET).
