When NASCAR’s Gander Outdoors Truck Series makes its second trip to Texas Motor Speedway in 2019, an extra $50,000 will be on the table for drivers.
TMS leads off what NASCAR is calling the ‘Triple Truck Challenge,’ a battle royale for Truck Series bonuses that could reach as high as a half million dollars.
The $50,000 proverbial carrot hanging from the flag stand is available to any driver who takes the green flag in June 7’s Rattlesnake 400. The concept is easy enough. Whoever wins the race takes home the $50K.
“What better place could there be to ask drivers to put it all on the line than at No Limits, Texas?” Texas Motor Speedway President/GM Eddie Gossage said. “To lay an extra $50,000 out there for these drivers to fight over further enhances what’s always the perfect opening event to our summer race weekend.”
‘The Great American Speedway’ is the first of three straight ‘Triple Truck Challenge’ races, going second to Iowa Speedway then to Gateway Motorsports Park. If the same driver wins all three races, he or she pockets $500,000.
The program is similar to NASCAR’s Dash 4 Cash in the Xfinity Series, but the difference is anyone can win. In Dash 4 Cash, only four drivers are eligible for the prize, and they have a qualifying race to identify those four challengers. Texas Motor Speedway’s My Bariatric Solutions 300 Xfinity Series race was the qualifier for the 2018 Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash.
The ‘Triple Truck Challenge’ is an added incentive for NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series regulars racing at these three stand-alone events. With the other two NASCAR series in different cities those weeks, it allows the best of the Truck Series to battle for the big money bonuses.
