Homestead-Miami Speedway is in championship form and all eyes are set on South Florida as the track hosts Ford Championship Weekend, November 16-18. As everyone speculates on who will win the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship, an animal at Zoo Miami made its own prediction today.
For the fifth consecutive year, Zoo Miami partnered with Homestead-Miami Speedway to host an event where an animal has the job of “Wildlife Prognosticator.” Homestead-Miami Speedway has been the host of the championship race each year since 2002 and as a community partner, Zoo Miami was part of the fun by having Conan, a coatimundi, join all of the “experts” in predicting this year’s winner. Conan picked between Championship 4 contenders Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano, and predicted that Busch would be hoisting the trophy on Sunday night.
“Until you have been on that track, until you have heard those cars race by, feel that thunder in your chest you haven’t lived,” said Ron Magill, Zoo Miami Communications Director. “That is the excitement of the race. It’s a feeling you can’t just describe – the power, the speed. It’s the magic of NASCAR.”
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Ford EcoBoost 400 championship race will be decided this Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway where Busch, Harvick, Truex and Logano will compete for the title amongst a full field of drivers. The Championship 4 driver to cross the finish line first after 267 laps will be crowned the 2018 Monster Energy Series champion.
