Girl Scout CEO Sylvia Acevedo added to the list of dignitaries for the Ford EcoBoost 400

With Ford Championship Weekend right around the corner, the list of dignitaries for the Ford EcoBoost 400 continues to grow along with the anticipation of the upcoming race. Girl Scouts of the USA CEO Sylvia Acevedo will have the role of leading the pledge of allegiance prior to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Acevedo, who is a life-long Girl Scout, was appointed CEO of Girls Scouts of the USA in May, 2017. Acevedo became one of the first Hispanics to earn a graduate engineering degree from Stanford and has made a living as a rocket scientist, engineer and award winning STEM entrepreneur. She began her career as a rocket scientist for NASA and has since served as an executive for industry-leading companies such as Apple, Dell and IBM.

As part of Acevedo’s role in the Ford EcoBoost 400, Homestead-Miami Speedway will be offering an exclusive ticket package for the Girl Scouts of the USA. The package will include a ticket to Sunday’s race and the opportunity to join Acevedo on stage for the pledge of allegiance. To partake in this unique, one-of-a-kind experience to meet one of the most influential women in the United States, call (866) 409-RACE (7223).

“We have always taken great pride in the dignitaries that we have on-hand for Ford Championship Weekend each year,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer. “It is an honor to work with Sylvia Acevedo as she is extremely accomplished and serves as a role model for many young women around the world. To be able to continue our involvement with Girl Scouts of the USA and provide them the opportunity to get involved in motorsports and STEM is very exciting.”

“NASCAR and Girl Scouts are both iconic American institutions, so I’m thrilled to be leading the Pledge of Allegiance alongside my fellow Girl Scouts this year at the Ford EcoBoost 400,” said Sylvia Acevedo. “Girl Scouts offers girls an incredible array of opportunities to explore new interests and cultivate their passions, and I’m excited to think about the young girl NASCAR fans who will spend Ford Championship Weekend imagining themselves in the driver’s seat of their own racecar with their eyes on the prize!”
