After having to go to a backup car, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was stifled by a starting position at the rear and could not advance through the field in Monday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at Martinsville Speedway, ultimately finishing 37th in the 263-mile event.
Virginia Natives
Two members of the No. 17 team grew up close to Martinsville Speedway. Engine tuner Jonathan Salmons was raised in Bassett, Virginia, which is approximately 15 miles north of Martinsville Speedway. Veteran truck driver DeWayne Zirkle is from Roanoke, Virginia which is approximately an hour north of the track.

“Martinsville has always been a tough track for me. Last year we were able to score two top-10 finishes so we will go back and look at those notes for this weekend. We struggled there in the spring but we found the issue when we got back to the shop. Hopefully we can have a good weekend at Martinsville and close out these final four races strong.”
