Majeski Scores an 8th-Place Finish in First Career Xfinity Start at Kansas

In his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) start at Kansas Speedway, Ty Majeski drove his No. 60 Ford Performance Mustang to an eighth-place finish scoring his second top-10 finish in 10 starts this 2018 NXS season.

“Overall today was a good day for our No. 60 team,” Majeski said. “I definitely was more comfortable coming here since I had competed at Kansas in the ARCA series so that definitely helped with the learning curve. We still have some work to do on our cars but overall after our season this definitely feels good and hopefully we can keep this going at Texas and Phoenix.”

On the start of the 200-lap race, a multi-car accident occurred at the front of the field but the Seymour, Wis. Native was able to maneuver his Ford through the wreckage unscathed. After a lengthy caution, Majeski lined up in the 10th position but once again the caution was displayed on the restart.

When the caution flag waved on lap 25, crew chief Mike Kelley brought Majeski to pit-road for an adjustment in hopes to help the tight handling condition.  After restarting in the 26th position, Majeski patiently maneuvered his Ford through the field gaining 14 positions in the final 12 laps of stage one.

After restarting in the ninth position for stage two, Majeski steadily worked his way up throughout the 45-lap stage taking the green checkered in the seventh position despite battling a Ford that was tight on landing but loose on throttle.

When the caution waved on lap 164, there were only six cars on the lead lap. With all the leaders pitting, crew chief Mike Kelley chose to take the wave around in hopes of a quick caution allowing Majeski to get back on the lead lap. Unfortunately, the race went green forcing Majeski to settle with an eighth-place finish.

The NXS has an off weekend before Majeski and the No. 60 team travel to Texas Motor Speedway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 on Nov. 3, 2018. Race coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. EST on NBCSN. Coverage can also be heard on PRN and SIRIUSXM Channel 90.
