Pete Cline, founder and CEO of VETMotorsports, will share the lessons he’s learned building trust citizens and veterans during a TEDx Talk at TEDxHilliard on Wednesday, August 15 at the Hilliard Bradley Performing Arts Center.
Cline’s award-winning, Columbus Ohio-based non-profit honors and empowers active military, veterans with service-connected injuries and their caregivers through active participation in motorsports. He created the VETMotorsports program to provide inspiration and motivation to active military and veterans with service-related injuries by making them part of a new team and giving them a new mission.
VETMotorsports recruits participants, embeds them with professional racing teams or puts them behind the wheel, and covers all expenses for them a caregiver to take part in the experience.
“Trust is a language we all need to learn,” said Cline, an Upper Arlington resident. “It’s played an indelible role in the deep and meaningful relationships we’ve been able to develop with our veteran participants and the growth of our non-profit. It’s also something we all need to embrace in this increasingly polarized world.”
TEDx is a forum for idea sharing where speakers and performers engage the audience with brief 5-15-minute presentations. The program aims to challenge norms, open minds and inspire.
The theme for TEDxHilliard 2018 is Pathways. The third annual event will showcase some of the best and brightest thinkers, doers and visionaries in central Ohio who will highlight the experiences, challenges, questions, and pathways that lead to innovation, new products, better community relations, and a deeper understanding of the human condition.
“We think of TEDxHilliard as an awesome dinner party, with great food, inspirational performances, brilliant speakers and mind-blowing conversation,” said Destination Hilliard’s Christy Clark. “By joining us, people will have the opportunity to be a part of a truly unique event that will unleash new ideas, inspire and inform.”
