Toyota’s Seavey Takes Runner-Up Honors At Jefferson County Raceway

Logan Seavey placed second to lead Toyota in Saturday’s USAC P1 Insurance National Midget series’ feature at Jefferson County Speedway in Fairbury, Nebraska, in the third race of the USAC Mid-America Midget Week. It was Seavey’s third consecutive runner-up finish.
Starting from the sixth position, Seavey quickly moved up into fourth on lap one and would remain in the spot through the first half of the 40-lap feature with few passing opportunities in the front of the pack.
The USAC point leader would move into third on lap 21 behind eventual winner Justin Grant and Tyler Courtney. Seavey would then climb up into the second position on lap 31 and begin to chase down Grant in the late stages of the race, but would eventually run out of laps. Three Toyota-powered drivers earned top-five finishes on the night with Tanner Carrick (fourth) and Brady Bacon (fifth) joining Seavey.
“I’m excited to get another podium,” said Seavey. “Yet, Keith (Kunz) keeps giving me cars capable of winning and I’m not getting it done right now. It’s unfortunate, but I can’t thank Mobil 1 and TRD enough for supporting me, as well as all the great fans for turning out.”
Overall, eight Toyota drivers from four different teams would finish in the top 10. In addition to Seavey, Carrick and Bacon, Jerry Coons Jr., placed sixth, Jason McDougal was seventh, Tyler Thomas finished eighth, Spencer Bayston was ninth and Kyle Craker came home in tenth.
USAC will close out Mid-America Midget Week with its debut race at the Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Missouri, on Sunday night. It marks the first USAC National Midget event in Missouri since 2006.
