ARCA rookie Blaine Perkins will make his third start of the 2018 season Thursday evening at the Chicagoland Speedway in the SCOTT 150 racing for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM). Perkins will race the No. 98 Autoparkit/ Four Star Fruit Chevrolet.
The 18-year-olds last start came earlier this month at Pocono Raceway where he earned a 12th place finish.
“I’m really excited to run Chicago this coming week,” an ecstatic Blaine Perkins stated. “my career best finish came at Kentucky last year and we are looking to improve upon that finish this week. The biggest similarities between Kentucky and Chicago is the speed. The main difference between the two is Kentucky was a one grove racetrack as opposed to Chicago’s multiple grooves. I’ve learned that restarts are a huge key to success in these ARCA races. You have to be aggressive and get everything you can while everyone is bunched together.”
The Bakersfield, California native has three prior ARCA starts to his credit. His career best finish came last fall at the Kentucky Speedway in his debut where he scored a ninth-place finish.
“I believe if we qualify well Thursday it will lead to a great race. This year we have had a great car everywhere. We just need to capitalize when we have good track position. Having that clean air is going to be important. I believe I can earn my first career top-five finish this week.”
Before the race, Perkins will appear Wednesday evening at the Menards store located in Morris, Illinois to sign autographs for fans from 6:00-7:00 pm CDT .
Chicagoland Speedway holds a special place in MMM’s heart. In 2014, the team earned their first victory in the SCOTT 150 with Mason Mitchell driving. The win came in the teams tenth start in the ARCA Racing Series.
The SCOTT 150 will air live on Fox Sports 1 Thursday, June 28th beginning at 9:00 pm ET. Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring for all on-track activities throughout the day from Chicago.
