There’s an automatic berth in NASCAR’s playoffs reserved for the winner of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but the driver who conquers racing’s toughest test of man and machine will receive an array of prizes in addition to the prestige associated with winning one of racing’s crown jewels.
Here’s a look at the five prizes the winner will receive on Sunday:
BRUTON SMITH TROPHY: One of the most iconic trophies in all of racing goes home to the winner of the Coca-Cola 600. Produced by Innocast Execuline in Howard Lake, Minnesota, the 80-pound bronze piston trophy features the Charlotte Motor Speedway “Globe” on top and a black marble base. Its presence has become synonymous with Charlotte Motor Speedway since its inception more than 35 years ago.
VINTAGE COCA-COLA VENDING MACHINE: Since Kurt Busch’s victory in the 2010 Coca-Cola 600, Terry Kimble of Georgia-based Remember When Restorations has provided the race winner with an authentic, vintage Coca-Cola vending machine. The 60-day restoration process concludes with the machine’s presentation to the race winner. This year’s winner will receive a red-and-white 1957 Vendo model 39.
MAURICE LACROIX MASTERPIECE GRAVITY WATCH: The avant-garde Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Gravity wristwatch enables the race winner to keep track of time in luxurious fashion. From its gold-plated hands to a crocodile-skin strap, nothing tops a Masterpiece Gravity. The Zurich, Switzerland-produced watch is sure to be an eye-catcher.
WHITE GOLD AND DIAMOND RING: Victory lane never shined brighter. A Jostens 14-carat white gold and diamond Coca-Cola 600 winner’s ring will go home with the winner. The top of this custom-designed ring features the Charlotte Motor Speedway Globe logo inlayed with red, black and blue enamel. The outer perimeter of the top plate has prong-set, round brilliant-cut diamonds with “2018 Champion” and “Coca-Cola 600” featured in a raised, relief-style engraving. The side of the shank features a checkered flag with round brilliant-cut white and black diamonds with the Charlotte Motor Speedway logo. The opposite side of the shank features the Coca-Cola logo integrated with a cola bottle with round, brilliant-cut diamonds. The white diamonds combine to weigh 1.85 carats total and exhibit G-H color and SI clarity and the black diamonds combine to weigh .06 carats.
WINNER’S COAT: Designed by Charlotte-based clothier and former NASCAR pit crew member William Wilson, a custom-designed “Coca-Cola 600 Champion” sport coat joins the list of accolades and awards to the race winner. Wilson’s acclaimed designs have received rave reviews from actors, professional athletes and musicians. The coat is presented in front of hundreds of fans at the post-race champagne toast in The Speedway Club.
