It’s been three months since 20-year-old Quin Houff’s last ARCA race at the Daytona International Speedway (DIS). This week he will be back behind the wheel of the No. 98 BeatinCancerWithDuke.Org Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) in the General Tire 150 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Houff took part in the open test two weeks ago at the 1.5-mile track to prep for the 100 lap event.
“The ARCA test was my first time turning laps around Charlotte,” Quin Houff explained. “I had a lot learn as a driver. Not only figuring out the lines but also working on relaying feedback to the team about the car since this is the first race at Charlotte for them as well. The team was able to get me comfortable right away behind the wheel and the team made great adjustments to make us better every single run.”
While Quin hasn’t raced since Daytona, he’s been very busy making numerous appearances.
“This month leading up to the race at Charlotte has been quite busy. I’ve had the opportunity to make a few local appearances to not only get people excited for the upcoming race but supporting local charities as well. We did a March of Dimes event, a Career Day with a local elementary school, and even visited UVA’s Children’s cancer hospital. These are all great organizations. I love being able to support and connect with people in the community. It’s what our sport is all about, being able to give back to the community.”
Before the General Tire 150 on Thursday evening at the 1.5-mile track. Mason Mitchell Motorsports will host the first ever team “fan fest” Tuesday afternoon from 1:00-5:00 PM. Quin along with MMM teammates Max Tullman, Blaine Perkins and Ryan Repko will be signing autographs for fans. The team will also have numerous giveaways for fans including race tickets, MMM merchandise and race used sheet metal. The teams shop is located at 223 Rolling Hill Rd., Mooresville, North Carolina 28117 just off of interstate 77.
Houff has two scheduled starts with MMM after Charlotte beginning next month at Michigan and then he will round out his schedule racing at the second Pocono race on July 27th.
The General Tire 150 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway will air live on Fox Sports 1 Thursday, May 24th beginning at 9:00 pm ET. Arcaracing.com will have live timing and scoring for all on-track activities throughout the day.
Chassis Information: Quin will race chassis No. 588 out of the MMM stable. This will mark the 2018 on-track debut for the chassis. The chassis’ last race was last summer at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds where Sheldon Creed finished in the second spot.
