George Shea, the mouth that roars as the colorful emcee of the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest held annually on the Fourth of July at Coney Island, will be showcased in the television ads promoting April’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Shea is well known for his hyperbole and voracious vocabulary, and Texas Motor Speedway enjoyed a taste of his talents when he was invited to handle the driver introductions for November’s AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Playoff Race.
Shea’s performance spurred Texas Motor Speedway to feature him in its TV ad campaign that kicks off this weekend in select markets around Sunday’s The Clash at Daytona International Speedway (2 p.m. CT, FOX Sports 1). The ad promoting the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Sunday, April 8, will extend to multiple markets throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma in and around next Sunday’s season-opening Daytona 500 (1:30 p.m. CT, FOX).
Shea, who has served as emcee of the hot dog eating contest for more than a quarter century, wears his trademark straw boater hat along with his traditional blue sport coat and tie in the 30-second spot that was produced in house.
He opens with, “This is No Limits, Texas – sacred ground. These are the chosen, the anointed, the children of history selected for greatness by the finger of power. …” The ad also highlights seven-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, along with young stars Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney.
