The University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) continues its long-standing partnership with Kentucky Speedway by becoming the official pole award sponsor on Friday, July 13.
“It is fitting for UNOH to move to such a high profile sponsorship during our big weekend,” Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger said. “Through our partnership, I have seen their tremendous growth and success. We are proud to help deliver the message of opportunity that UNOH provides students, both in and out of motorsports.”
Located in Lima, Ohio, UNOH grants masters, bachelors, and associate degrees through its Colleges of Applied Technologies, Business, Occupational Professions, Health Professions, and Graduate College along with many online degree options. The College of Applied Technologies prepares students for careers in the motorsports and automotive industries through specialized automotive, high performance motorsports, diesel, agricultural equipment, and alternate fuels programs. Other programs in the College of Applied Technologies include robotics & automation and HVAC/R.
“Everyone at the University of Northwestern Ohio urges students to excel in their field of study, to find a career field they are passionate about,” said Dr. Jeffrey A. Jarvis, president of the University of Northwestern Ohio. “To that end, it only makes sense to pair our university name with the Pole Award at Kentucky Speedway, an achievement for an entire race team that hard work and perseverance pays off. We are honored to continue our partnership with Kentucky Speedway and wish all of this year’s teams the best of luck in the 2018 racing season.”
The UNOH College of Applied Technologies has built a storied motorsports history through its involvement in the ARCA Racing Series, three NASCAR national touring series, and NHRA. In 1992, UNOH became the first university in the world to feature an accredited high performance motorsports degree program. More than 4,000 students are currently enrolled at UNOH from 40 states and 49 countries. In its history, UNOH has educated students from all 50 states and 61 countries.
