Dover International Speedway and Dover Downs Hotel & Casino are collecting supplies to aid relief efforts following unprecedented flooding in Texas caused by Hurricane Harvey.
Among the recommended donation requests are baby items, personal hygiene items, non-perishables (canned goods, water, etc.), pet supplies and cleaning materials.
Clothing and perishable items are not recommended.
Items can be dropped off at the Dover International Speedway ticket office at 1131 N. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Items must be donated between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 or Wednesday, Sept. 6. All items will then be taken to Harbor Transport in Federalsburg, Md., where they will be placed on a tractor trailer bound for the Gulf Coast.
Dover Downs Hotel, the largest hotel facility in Delaware, has already pledged boxes of gently used items to the cause, including washcloths, hand towels, bath towels, toiletries and bottled water.

As of Friday, Sept. 1, Hurricane Harvey has been blamed for at least three dozen deaths, displaced more than 30,000 residents and damaged more than 90,000 homes in Texas.
